L-R: Wild Watermelon, Sorbet, Juicy Papaya, Red Velvet

I can't believe its been a year since Lip Butters landed in the uk. You will normally find me sporting Pink Truffle or Berry Smoothie on a daily basis. So when i heard new permanent and limited edition shades were finally here I stalked the Boots website. There are currently retailing for £7.99 with Boots offering a buy-one-get-one-half-price.

I picked up Red Velvet (new but permanent) and from their limited addition line i managed to nab Wild Watermelon, Sorbet and Juicy Papaya. I will however continue to hunt for Pink Lemonade and Sugar Plum.

Firstly, I have to say that although the new shades seem very bright and vibrant, they are in fact much sheerer to swatch and to wear. I'm not normally a fan of brights but these are beautiful and fit nicely into an everyday look. I highly recommend them to anyone wanting to see how they like bright colours as they give much more of a tint rather than a full on opaque colour.

Red Velvet:
This is a new but permanent colour. Having heard good reviews on this colour i knew i wanted it but wasn't sure how it'd suit me. Its a much darker vampy red-brown shade. I was delighted to find i did like this colour. I will be sporting this on my next night out!

Sorbet:
A brighter pink. I thought i'd be scared of this colour (i have to admit if there wasn't an offer on these i wouldn't have got it!) but i love its sheerness and cant wait to wear it!

Juicy Papaya:
I totally adore this colour. I've always been looking for a way to wear peachy summer colours and this is most definitely it! It didn't even seem like i'd applied anything on my lips but when i left my mirror and came back to it, i noticed i had the nicest suggestion of peach on my lips. Its certainly juicy and is the perfect intro for someone wanting to try a peach shade!

Wild Watermelon:
I think this is my favourite colour! Its a wearable yet bright pink-red shade. Its really surprised me, especially how excited i am to wear this in the day time!

Hi all,

First of all you'll have to bear with me on the blog front at the moment (10 points if you know the phrase "Bear with....bear with...bear with.) My final year of uni is incredibly busy and i plan to blog a whole lot more once i graduate in July (eeeeekkkkk.)

So anyways i went to a big formal 21st birthday the other week. I'm talking hiring out a bar and a £1000 bar tab for us! It was such a nice, different type of evening full of talking, singing and wine!

My outfit
So first of all i wore this dress from Oasis-total bargain and i absolutely love it! Its a blue-with-a-hint-of-green peplum strapless dress with a gold belt! I'd seriously recommend it if you have an event to go to! I wore it with some old flat metallic shoes (since i'm 5"11 anyways!) from new look, this style of earrings (but in gold) and this bag! Though i had to by a size down in the dress so would recommend you doing the same!

My hair
I followed the basics from this tutorial by swalkermakeup. I'd used this hair style for a uni ball i went to a couple of years ago, so knew it was easy and that i liked the outcome! All you do is curl all your hair, tie it into a low ponytail and then pin the curls up using bobby pins! I love this outcome as i like updos that sit lower on your head that you can see from the front!

My make-up
I kept it pretty simple. Unfortunately i don't have any good pics of my make-up but from what i remember i used MAC prolongwear foundation (which had some flashback- don't recommend for photography!), a variety of concealers, MAC MSFN, No 7. Blush in Soft Damsen, Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Permenant Taupe, Urban Decay eyeshadows in Verve, Tease and Blackout, Bobbi Brown eyeshadow in Bone as a brow highlight and MAC Nylon as an inner corner highlight, liquid eyeliner, mascara and eyeliner, lipbalm and my favourite Revlon Lip Butter in Pink Truffle!

So i went a little nail varnish crazy the other day in the Boots 3-for-2 offers and ended up with about 8 nail varnishes. Don't ask me how that adds up to 3-for-2! Here one of the polishes i got-Revlon's Vintage Rose!

Its the first polish i bought from this colorstay range and i really like it so far. Its lasted really well with minimal chipping and i've had loads of complements on the colour! Its a lot darker on the nails than in the photo but i struggled to get a good one! The Daily Varnish has better photos of this polish which you can see here.

I'd really recommend this polish and can't wait to try the other colours i bought from this range!

What are your thoughts on Revlon's nail varnishes?

Seeing my coursemates in lectures again- they really brighten my day.
2.) Taking my new uni bag on its first outing this week- definitely my favourite xmas present!
3.) My housemate asking for my advice on how to use Excel and constantly calling it Edexcel! You can tell she's a humanities student!
4.) The Great Comic Relief Bake Off. Need i say more?
5.) Text from dog. Again need i say more? My friends and i have been in hysterics at it all evening!
6.) Getting a hair cut and actually liking it! Hopefully i've found a great place to go in Manchester :D 7.) Buying way too much nail varnish (damn Boots and their 3-for-2 offers!)
Excuse the horrible face photo but i was keen to get back to work, and am not a fan of taking photos of my face anyways! I like to keep my make up pretty simple most of the time when it comes to revision. I wish i could remember which foundation this is as it photographed well!

But keep an eye out for my upcoming January Favourites as there'll be lots of products that helped me through the revision period!

I'm hair-cut-aphobic. (and i know i'm not the only one)

So about 18 months ago i had a horrific haircut. The word "choppy" was thrown about a bit and i left with barely anything to put up in a ponytail and really really short layers where she decided my hair was too thick. Yes I cried. A lot. Since then my hair has never been the same, it feels like i have a whole lot less of it!

Recently my hairs got really long and i think it might be weighed down by itself. Therefore I've been on the look out for something to give my hair some more oomph. After loving the V05 Smoothly Does It Frizz Free Creme i thought i'd give this a try and see what i thought.

Its basically a white powder that you shake into your hair, give it a little tousle and its supposed to give some volume and texture to the hair. To cut a long story short, this product is awful.

The Pro's:
-The price- Boots have it priced at £4.07 but i got mine cheaper from Asda. I bet this would last someone a long time.
-The packaging- I love the pink packaging and the different ranges from this line.
-The scent- I think all the products in the pink packaging have the same scent, i like it a lot less in this powder form but the Frizz Free Creme smells divine.

The Con's:
-The product. Yup, the bit you're actually paying for is awful. This powder is gritty and you can really feel it in your hair, making it impossible to brush out or work with afterwards. It provides some volume but this quickly falls away. It sits in your hair so much that i would never ever use this product again. I really really hated it.
-The instructions. The packaging says they've left extra room for you to shake it up before use. DO NOT do this! All it does is get the product all over the little parts of the lid and it goes everywhere when you try to open it.

The good news is that i think i've found a product that does the job i'm looking for! I used it for the first time today so want to try it out a bit more when my hair doesn't get ruined by the wind the second i walk out the door. Watch this space.

Also i'm getting my hair cut for the first time at a new place in Manchester tomorrow. WISH ME LUCK!!! I'm slightly bricking it!

Hi everyone,

Sorry i've been away for a while! I had the week from hell doing all on my 1st semester 3rd year exams in 1 week. Let me tell you it was almost impossible the amount they expect you to know for each module! Every year from GCSEs, to A levels, to 1st, 2nd and 3rd year you're expected to know more and more. But with the help and support of friends and the boyfriend i lived to tell the tale! And i only have 1 more exam period to get through before i graduate in the summer!!

My housemate turned 21 during the week and as a surprise we treated her to a girly afternoon tea at Hey, Little Cupcake in Manchester. It was so lovely to spend time with my female housemates- we don't often have Girl's Time!

We gorged ourselves on sandwiches, scones, chocolate covered strawberries and mini cupcakes! We sipped hot chocolate, chatted and laughed the afternoon away- so much so that we were practically kicked out as they were setting up for a cupcake decorating class that evening!

So anyways I've just had a quiet weekend catching up on sleep and finally spending quality time with the people in my life! I'm back in lectures now though so didn't get a long break (37 days of solid work in exchange for 2 days off doesn't seem like very much!) But its nice not to have constant work and to have the time to paint my nails for the first time in months! It's definitely the little things in life :-)

Yup, this is pretty much me right now. I've spent a lot of the past month plus studying all day everyday and i've just lost the will. I've come back to uni in a bid to do even more work but its just gone the complete opposite way. My exams start a week later than everyone else so maybe once it gets a bit closer i'll get "exam fear" and then crack on again. I think i peaked too early but this is that LAST ever crazy exam period, summer ones are always much more spread out! But all I can think of at the moment is I CAN'T WAIT TO GRADUATE!!

I can't wait to leave and find something new that I love! I can't wait to work 9-5 and have evenings and weekends back. Though for something i love i know i'd be willing to work on it all the time. My work as a Student Coordinator gets my full attention anytime of day or night whenever it needs it because i enjoy it. At the moment I'm looking in to market research jobs (SO exciting when you finally find something you can get behind and put all your energies into!) I've found a place that I really want to apply to and they take applications all year round so I can relax, focus on exams and send them a really good application and see what happens!

But first, bedtime so that i can get up and get going tomorrow!
Good luck to anyone else taking exams at the moment! I'm thinking of you :)
When it comes to this time of year, where the exam crackdown begins, my make up routine tends to shrink! The mindset of "stop faffing go revise!" kicks in and along with it anything fussy in my make up routine disappears! At the same time I still manage to cover all the bases and feel put together- as i don't feel awake and ready to go without make up on!
Catching up with lovely friends from my course- with module choices and industrial placements i don't see them very often.
2.) Meeting baby Rosie- the newest addition to my family! She gorgeous!
3.) Spending quality time with my parents- doesn't happen all that often nowadays!
4.) Strictly Come Dancing- enough said!
5.) Christmas markets!
6.) Going out for dinner and cocktails with my 7 housemates (well 6 housemates and the honorary one!)
7.) Honorary housemate (housemate number 4's boyfriend!) giving us house xmas presents to say thanks for letting him come over so often (posters for our kitchen, we're having a boys vs girls war)- he's a really lovely guy and he gets along with all of us and to be honest its not like we just let him come over, he's truly welcome whenever he wants and it often feels like someone's missing if he's not there!

Those are my happy things! It's been a really good long weekend for me! I'm so happy and feeling so blessed right now :D
Becky xoxoBeckyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11623946881565477594noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8790676631902985898.post-53698350538704349302012-12-09T13:49:00.000-08:002012-12-09T13:49:18.619-08:00The calm before the storm... This weekend i took a break. I came home on friday and have had the most lovely of long weekends. What makes it really special is that i've done lots with my time and seen lots of people but i still feel really rested.

I have an awful exam timetable this January, they're my third year final exams which count the most towards my degree and i don't even have 24 hours between some of them! But I'm ready to head back up North from my lovely southern home and get revising (I say that but give it 2 days and i'll already be going insane-imagine how i'll be after 7 weeks!!)
Heres what i've done with my time:

Friday I had my weekly psychology classes with my lovely friend Sophie- she's so unique and lovely and unlike any other friend i have so its so lovely and refreshing to spend time with someone like her! We went our separate ways at the station and i met up with my friend Hannah who's on an industrial placement this year and my other friend Clare came along too! So nice to see those girls and catch up :D Then i got a train home. 3 hours and 11 minutes is a long time and the bum got very numb to say the least! Coming home is always such a comfort and I don't realise how much i miss my parents until i see them! I'm so lucky to have them and since i've been away at uni our relationship is so much more friendly, fun and supportive of each other! It was also so nice to sleep in my own bed!

Saturday mum and I got up and drove over to one of my cousin's house. His lovely wife gave birth 2 weeks ago, the first baby to be born into my family since me 20 years ago! Though he was at work Becky (his wife) is such a part of the family that it was so nice to see her! I got to meet the newest addition to the family, Rosie, a beautiful baby girl. I had a nice cuddle with her. She's just perfect and gorgeous in every way (she's not even one of those babies thats ugly and you say they're gorgeous cause you love them- she is just stunning!) Becky's such a lovely natural mum and it was such a treat to get to meet the newborn! Next we returned home to put the xmas decs up! I've been away at uni the past years this has been done so it's such a treat to be here for it this year! Later my other cousin and her husband came over and we had a catch up and all went for an Indian yum yum!

Today (sunday) my parents and I went to Winchester xmas markets, a train ride away from me. I loved that i got to spend some quality time with them today as normally i leave to go back north on Sundays. I got some xmas pressies for family! We've come back home and caught up with Strictly Come Dancing- a show I LOVE! I spend every saturday singing the theme tune now stop in anticipation for the live show later!

Tomorrow i'll have to pack, head to the station and spend 3 and a half hours on the train again. I'll be so sad to leave and i know i'll get home sick again but it'll be nice to see my boyfriend again. Monday evening is my house xmas dinner so it'll be great to go out and have some nice food and cocktails to help me settle back up north!

So thats my amazing weekend- practically perfect if you ask me! Proper family time :D
What have you lovelies done this weekend?

I can't believe its well into December now! 2012 has been an amazing year so far- 2013 will be an exciting/ scary year for me so I'm excited to see what it brings!

As for beauty favourites, i have a few things to show you!

Revlon Colourstay Foundation in 150-Buff is my go to winter foundation. I love the coverage it gives and its staying power is beyond any other foundation i use! They do different ones for dry and combination/oily skin so if you haven't tried this yet i'd definitely recommend it!

MAC Blush in "Springsheen" My go to blush this month! Its a lovely peachy pink with subtle gold shimmer. It works really well with the foundation and gives a great glow to the cheeks- perfect for winter!

Urban Decay Primer Potion I've always overlooked this product, believing that nothing could give my eyeshadows staying power on my hooded oily eyelids. Boy was i wrong! I'd never wear eyeshadow without this now and can't wait to get my hands on a full size one!

L'oreal Telescopic Mascara I rediscovered this a while ago and have repurchased it a few times! Its a really great mascara that i'd recommend anyone give a go! Its affordable and gives really great separation to my lashes!

Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner A new purchase for me at the end of October! I really adore how easy this makes my morning! Its got a lovely fine tip and stays wet long enough for me to correct any mistakes i make!

Urban Decay Eyeshadows in "Bootycall" and "Suspect" These are 2 wonderful eyeshadows from the naked 2 palette. Bootycall has been my inner corner and browbone highlight for the month, making a lovely subtle change from the more garish "Nylon" by MAC that I normally use. I've been really more into a sweep of a brown eyeshadow across this lids this month and Suspect has really become one of my favourites!
Third year is tough work on top of the stress of deciding what to do after uni. I promise i'll try to be better.

I absolutely adore ciderwithrosie's blog and her posts "10 things that have made me happy this week" so i thought i'd start my own version so that i still look for the good even though i spend most of the time being stressed.

1.) Watching a film with George when he turns and says "I love you Becky." There's something about hearing your name tacked on to the end of 'I love you' that makes it extra rare and special and it gave me the warm fuzzies :-)
2.) Seeing the delight on housemates number 1's face when housemate number 3 won a prize on a raffle at an event we went to and picked the coffee maker he had been drooling over for weeks and gave it to him as a present. She's such a lovely girl :) The amount of time the 7 of us in my house had spent talking about that coffee maker, it was only fair that it came home with us!
3.) Housemate number 3 being even more lovely and buying me chocolate when my interview didn't go well!
4.) Making tacos with george for the first time and them tasting reallyyy yummy.
5.) Strictly come dancing makes my weekend- i'm that sad that i refuse to do anything else but sit in front of the TV every saturday evening. Take Me Out is always put on afterwards- you have to love a bit of trashy tv.
6.) Housemate number 5 coming out of the funk he'd been in for the past few weeks, actually talking to us again and being his happy self :)
7.) The first baby to be born in my family since me arrived last week. Welcome to the family baby Rosie! Beckyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11623946881565477594noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8790676631902985898.post-62888552034972253852012-10-29T07:23:00.001-07:002012-10-29T07:23:27.950-07:00OOTN- Anniversary dinner

18th October, back before the cold weather hit, was my 2 year anniversary with the boyfriend! We went to Chiquitos for dinner, yummy food, cocktails and a budget friendly weekday menu, what's not to like? They even threw in a free glass of Prosecco each when we told them it was our anniversary!

I'd been shopping the week before and came out of New Look with this cute dress, part of their Kelly Brook range! It was £30 (£27 with student discount) but it was the last one in my size, in fact it was the last one there that wasn't a size 6, so i took it as fate and snapped it up! This occaision was its first outing!

I really love it and think its a flattering cut and would look great on anyone! I wore it with black tights and cheap black flats. The red bow belt that comes with it adds a great splash of colour!

After we got back i had some free time and played around with a red lip (Revlon lip butter in Candy Apple and MAC viva glam cyndi lipglass.) Not something i'd wear out normally but its always fun to play! Apart from that my make up was quite neutral, a nice base and a few shadows from my Naked 2 palette!

(Please ignore my messy bedroom!)

What do you think? Will you be checking this dress or anything else from the Kelly Brook collection out?

Much love,

So, I've been using this product for ages now and i'm so in love that i just had to write a review on it! This is a shampoo that you use once a week. I use mine on a Saturday or Sunday as a weekend treat.

This is a cleansing shampoo that i purchased after product was building up in my hair and i didn't know why- one wash with this and all was right in the hair world again.

It smells amazing (at least i think so) and i would go as far as to says its really transformed my hair. I can wash it less often and it just looks and feels a lot nicer! I left it in my shower at uni over summer and actually really missed it!

I'd really recommend it to anyone- its pricey but you only use it once a week- mines lasted a good few months so far! I adore having the weekend hair wash treat! I'd definitely always repurchase this!

Only a few favourites this month. I moved back to uni, went to scotland for a holiday and started my last year at uni! I kept my make up pretty simple. If you saw my last beauty haul you might notice one product i bought there that made it in to my favourites, i'm trying out the rest still so you might see them in my October favourites!

Balmi lipbalm: I bought this on 26th September and instantly fell in love. Its everything i wish an EOS lipbalm was! Its smooth and moisturisng and great for on the go. I use it every day.

MAC Painterly paint pot: Whenever i don't have time for eyeshadow or can't be bothered with it i'll put this all over my eyelids. It's a great neutral colour and looks like i have nothing on. It corrects the discolouring on my lids and is a go to for any "no makeup" look i want!

MAC Charcoal Brown eyeshadow: So many people use this for filling in their brows but i love this for a crease colour, its matt and is great for definition!

Bobbi Brown Light Bisque corrector and Laura Mercier Secret Concealer in shade "1": Now that i'm back in uni i don't get to lie in every day and my dark circles got worse. This is my dark circle combat duo, i don't know what i'd do without them! I put the corrector on first and then the concealer. I love both of them & will always repurchase!
Heres what i got!
The newest addition to the colour tattoo collection here in the UK. I heard about it on Viviannadoesmakeup's blog and when i saw it in the shops i knew i had to have it! Its a beautiful shade of pink that i find very wearable- and i don't really like pink on my eyes!
I'm a sucker for these brushes. I love them. When i saw one i haven't seen before i couldn't pass it up! I use it for highlighter. It's really small and really precise which i love! Its a lot smaller that the contour brush which is what i was using before for highlighter! These brushes are so good and such good value for money! I'd recommend them to anyone!

Becky xoxoBeckyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11623946881565477594noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8790676631902985898.post-21823151896958661492012-09-30T09:34:00.000-07:002012-09-30T09:34:24.042-07:00Where have i been/ where am i going? So i had my first week back of lectures at uni this week. I'm kind of overwhelmed with the whole "third year" thing at the moment! I can't wait to graduate but first i have to get through this year!

I normally post on tuesday and fridays! I had the long over due Liebster blog award post due for this friday but i wasn't finished/ happy with it so took it off the schedule leaving me with no friday blog post! :-( I'm sorry!

I also have found it hard finding the time to dedicate to blogging at the moment! This friday alone i had 9-5 straight in uni with no gaps! It was a crazy day! Plus i've been spending time with my boyfriends family as they've travelled up here this weekend to spend time with family before his brother goes off to Afghanistan (he's in the army btw!) And now to top it all off i feel really ill in a strange way that i've never felt before so not sure where its come from or how to treat it!

So i've been super busy with uni and trying to adapt to a new schedule and new demands- i have so much more self-motivated studying to do this year. I also find it hard to find decent lighting for photos here. It rains a lot here and its getting darker as winter draws closer and i have a skylight window in my room which isnt as good for photos as my window at home is!

I know this sounds like a lot of excuses and i really don't want to stop blogging but for now you might just have to bear with me as i try to adapt and manage my time! I love blogging and its still a priority but i might not be posting as often/ to a schedule for a bit if thats ok!

Hope everyone is doing well! Let me know if you're struggling with a new school year or anything! I'd love to hear from you all :D

Much love
Becky xxx

p.s i do have photos for a haul and for a lipstick post so keep your eyes peeled but when i'll get round to writing them who knows!!Beckyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11623946881565477594noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8790676631902985898.post-59823634827029782732012-09-25T00:00:00.000-07:002012-09-25T00:00:04.855-07:00My newest skincare love! The No. 7 Beautiful Skin Range!

I've stuck with my Simple moisturiser for so long now (pictured above) and i've never had any problems. The main thing i look for in the skincare products i use is whether they'll break me out or not! But when No. 7 skin care was 3 for 2 a few weeks ago i decided to give something new a go. I purchased some more of the Cleansing Water which i love, along with the day and night creams from the 'Beautiful Skin' range. The Beautiful Skin range has 3 lines which between them cover all skin types from dry to oily! My ones are aimed at those with normal to oily skin which is me all over.

First of all i have to say, the difference these have made to my skin is amazing! They don't make my skin break out any more than normal, nor do they clear it up (but i don't have huge spot problems anyways so all's good as long as that stays the same!) But what they do do is make my skin almost glow and look better and more healthy than it has done ever! I now find myself reaching for more light weight foundations and glowy finishes!

They have the same scent as the cleansing water, just a very clean non-offensive scent that i don't mind having on my face! I thought i'd find it too much of a faff to use 2 separate moisturisers but its made me see the importance of moisturising your skin in the right way!

(L:Day cream, R: Night cream)

When i first opened the tubs i thought they were the wrong way round! The day cream appears to be really thick, with the night cream appearing thinner. But it means i use less day cream and so it sinks in faster meaning i'm able to put make up on faster after application. Its also really nice to put a good helping of the night cream on without feeling like i'm drowning in cream! My night cream is definitely running out faster than the day one but i can see each pot lasting me a good few months at least!

All in all i really rate these creams and will definitely be repurchasing. They can seem pricey at £12.50 for the day cream (50ml) and £13.50 for the night cream (50ml) but play your cards right and you can get them on 3 for 2 or boots are always doing £5 No 7 vouchers!

When did this happen? I'm so old...

Freshers as a first year was pretty incredible. I went out quite a lot despite 9am starts the next day. I met new people, i went to new clubs, i moved to a new city 3 1/2 hours away from home. Yes it was scary but it was so exciting. I never wanted to miss out on anything.

Freshers as a second year was different. I had my friends, I moved into a student house, i went out a few times, i went back and forth between domino's stands at the freshers fair getting free pizza for lunch. Life was quite nice.

Freshers as a third year.. God i'm fed up. I'm fed up of the people handing flyers out- JUST LET ME WALK DOWN THE ROAD IN PEACE!! I want a sign that says "i'm a third year. Go away." I never made it to the freshers fair- which only lasted 2 days this year. I've gone out once so far and really didn't like it. I've never seen a club more cramped. No matter how much i drank as soon as i stepped on the dance floor all my efforts went into avoiding being pushed over and staying upright that i sobered up so quickly. I've also got no time for people who go to clubs to get with other people. I've got no desire to ever be part of that part of clubbing culture (good job i'm not single really.) I've also been having a bout of insomnia, leaving me grumpy and quite frankly knackered. My room's a mess which makes me more grumpy but i don't seem to have the time or effort to tidy. I've had clashes with my course modules so can't do all the ones i want to, and the department choose today to email me and tell me that they've had to switch my third year project supervisor from someone i was really happy with to someone i have no clue on. I'm worried what this means for my project. On the plus side my days have been really busy due to talks from my own course and being a student coordinator, meaning i run the peer mentor scheme for my course and have spent a lot of time sorting out issues with that and helping the first years settle in. This is a job, well its unpaid but meh, its a job i really love. I do tend to thrive when i'm busy. It makes me productive. Its helped me not to die due to my insomnia because i'm too occupied to be tired.

Apologies for my rant. Blame the insomnia. I just hope i sleep tonight. A third night of no sleep may well be the end of me.

I promise to be happier next time!
Hi guys! I didn't think i'd be able to get this post up for you today. I've moved back to uni now and the internet broke on saturday, my landlord fixed it today though! Boy did i miss the internet! So today i thought i'd talk you through how i organise my make up at uni since i don't have a dressing table!

The make up i use most often is kept in 8 tubs. These are actually take-away tubs i bought from a bargain store back home. I separate the make up according to product type. So in the back row from L-R are: Foundations, Primers and Concealers, Blushes, Powder and Highlighters. In the front row from L-R are: Mascaras and Eyeliners, Paint Pots and single Eyeshadows, Lipsticks, Lipglosses. My palettes i keep just to the right of these tubs.

The question is in the title. How do we define what it means to be romantic? What do we expect from a man when it comes to being romantic in a relationship and what do men think women want from them in terms of being romantic?

I personally think that, whilst i LOVE chick flicks and chick lit etc, all these things give us a jaded view of what is realistic in terms of relationship romance. But also i think it gives men a blurred idea of what it means to be romantic in a relationship.

I texted my boyfriend joking saying he should have romance on tap. He replied saying that he wasn't really a romantic kind of guy. Whilst on the surface i may have agreed with him, i don't get candle lit dinners or rose petals or any of that other crap, deep down i was quite shocked that he thought that of himself.

His definition of being romantic was "being good with words, candlelit dinners, roses and things like that." In what world do we live in where this is the norm in a relationship? To be honest if this was my life i would hate it. There is a very fine line between "soppy and disgusting" and "romantic whilst retaining your manliness." I personally think my boyfriend is the first guy i've dated that hasn't done romantic gestures that, rather than making me feel weak at the knees, just made me want to be sick.

He said he'd only bought me flowers 3 times in the nearly-2-years (eek) that we've been together. 3 times?! Does he seriously think this is bad? It makes when he does buy me flowers really really special. It means he's seen them and thought of me and decided to get me them. It means he's gone out of his way to do something that he thinks will make me happy. And to be honest this act alone makes me more happy than the flowers themselves! If i got flowers every week the novelty would wear off. Surely everyone else agrees with this?

When people say its the little things that count i really think that's true. I think all a girl wants is to feel loved and special everyday. The text 'good morning' and 'good night', the calling you 'beautiful', the hug that only he can give you, the being-happy-to-see-you. These are the things that should make romance in a relationship, not the huge gestures, and to me they do! I think its time we really appreciated the little things (cue this song playing here) and time any man thinking that being romantic consists of these huge gestures changes his tune.

Todays post is my thoughts on the Taylor Swift 'Wonderstruck' perfume. I have to admit i do like her and her music so thats the main reason i decided to investigate. The smell didn't offend me so i decided to pick it up! I got mine from my local Boots store. A small bottle (pictured above) will set you back £20- I used my boots points! And a large bottle will set you back £29. So to be honest its a pretty cheap purchase as far as perfumes go!

The packaging is lovely! It's purple themed with gold reflecks. I hope the photo i managed to get shows you pretty well how the bottle sparkles in the light! It sprays on easily etc and tick all the boxes.

The actual smell is quite a generic sweet celebrity perfume smell, it's nothing special or different. In fact it reminds me a lot of Britney Spear's Fantasy perfume- very sweet, not hugely sophisticated! I don't think its staying powers that great either.

All in all i'm a little disappointed, I wasn't blown away like i was hoping. I'd give it 2.75/5 if i had to rate it out of 5, as its a nice smell and quite budget friendly!

What perfumes do you love?
When i collect enough random little things together then this will become the first randoms post :D

-I'm really into the dubai 92 radio station. I quite like listening to the radio at uni sometimes cause it saves me getting to into what's playing and faffing about picking a song etc. I picked this station up when on holiday in dubai recently. Its an english station i assume aimed at english speakers living in dubai. It plays a great mix of chart and songs that come on and you go "wow i haven't heard this song in agesss." And if you're me you proceed to sing the songs badly at your boyfriend to have him half humour you, half have no clue what you're going on about. You then proceed to feel sorry that his childhood was deprived of Steal My Sunshine and other such classics (for example this one came on while i wrote this)

-The jeans i just got from next have fake pockets! I'm so disappointed! Lesson learned to check for pockets before purchase next time! *Update* my mum just told me that some shops sew up the pockets on items so that people don't steal things in them! I just need to unpick them wohoo!!

-i made the first 30 seconds of this song into a ringtone on my iphone using this tutorial. I have to say i'm pretty chuffed with myself :D I've always loved lisa mitchell since her song Neapolitan Dreams was used in a fabric softener advert forever ago! As soon as i heard the opening bars of Spiritus i knew i wanted it to be a ringtone! Go me for finally working out how! I now sit there willing my phone to ring so i can listen to my handiwork!

-I seem to be the only person in my family obsessed with the great british bake off! Even someone like my nan who i'd thought would love it didn't seem fussed.. am i sad or do i just have a strange family? The show reallyyy makes me want to bake! If only there were more hours in the day!

-Lastly i went to the hairdressers last week for a cut. I also had my full fringe changed into a side fringe. I'm not sure how i like it yet- some days it goes well, others go badly! I know its all about getting used to it as i've had a full fringe all my 20 years of life! So i'm giving it a trial period and i might change it or keep it! Who knows!
