The Fuss Free Face

When it comes to this time of year, where the exam crackdown begins, my make up routine tends to shrink! The mindset of "stop faffing go revise!" kicks in and along with it anything fussy in my make up routine disappears! At the same time I still manage to cover all the bases and feel put together- as i don't feel awake and ready to go without make up on!

7 happy things in 7 days

1.) Catching up with lovely friends from my course- with module choices and industrial placements i don't see them very often.
2.) Meeting baby Rosie- the newest addition to my family! She gorgeous!
3.) Spending quality time with my parents- doesn't happen all that often nowadays!
4.) Strictly Come Dancing- enough said!
5.) Christmas markets!
6.) Going out for dinner and cocktails with my 7 housemates (well 6 housemates and the honorary one!)
7.) Honorary housemate (housemate number 4's boyfriend!) giving us house xmas presents to say thanks for letting him come over so often (posters for our kitchen, we're having a boys vs girls war)- he's a really lovely guy and he gets along with all of us and to be honest its not like we just let him come over, he's truly welcome whenever he wants and it often feels like someone's missing if he's not there!

Those are my happy things! It's been a really good long weekend for me! I'm so happy and feeling so blessed right now :D

The calm before the storm...

This weekend i took a break. I came home on friday and have had the most lovely of long weekends. What makes it really special is that i've done lots with my time and seen lots of people but i still feel really rested.

I have an awful exam timetable this January, they're my third year final exams which count the most towards my degree and i don't even have 24 hours between some of them! But I'm ready to head back up North from my lovely southern home and get revising (I say that but give it 2 days and i'll already be going insane-imagine how i'll be after 7 weeks!!)
Heres what i've done with my time:

Friday I had my weekly psychology classes with my lovely friend Sophie- she's so unique and lovely and unlike any other friend i have so its so lovely and refreshing to spend time with someone like her! We went our separate ways at the station and i met up with my friend Hannah who's on an industrial placement this year and my other friend Clare came along too! So nice to see those girls and catch up :D Then i got a train home. 3 hours and 11 minutes is a long time and the bum got very numb to say the least! Coming home is always such a comfort and I don't realise how much i miss my parents until i see them! I'm so lucky to have them and since i've been away at uni our relationship is so much more friendly, fun and supportive of each other! It was also so nice to sleep in my own bed!

Saturday mum and I got up and drove over to one of my cousin's house. His lovely wife gave birth 2 weeks ago, the first baby to be born into my family since me 20 years ago! Though he was at work Becky (his wife) is such a part of the family that it was so nice to see her! I got to meet the newest addition to the family, Rosie, a beautiful baby girl. I had a nice cuddle with her. She's just perfect and gorgeous in every way (she's not even one of those babies thats ugly and you say they're gorgeous cause you love them- she is just stunning!) Becky's such a lovely natural mum and it was such a treat to get to meet the newborn! Next we returned home to put the xmas decs up! I've been away at uni the past years this has been done so it's such a treat to be here for it this year! Later my other cousin and her husband came over and we had a catch up and all went for an Indian yum yum!

Today (sunday) my parents and I went to Winchester xmas markets, a train ride away from me. I loved that i got to spend some quality time with them today as normally i leave to go back north on Sundays. I got some xmas pressies for family! We've come back home and caught up with Strictly Come Dancing- a show I LOVE! I spend every saturday singing the theme tune now stop in anticipation for the live show later!

Tomorrow i'll have to pack, head to the station and spend 3 and a half hours on the train again. I'll be so sad to leave and i know i'll get home sick again but it'll be nice to see my boyfriend again. Monday evening is my house xmas dinner so it'll be great to go out and have some nice food and cocktails to help me settle back up north!

So thats my amazing weekend- practically perfect if you ask me! Proper family time :D
What have you lovelies done this weekend?

November 2012 Beauty Favourites

Hi everyone,

I can't believe its well into December now! 2012 has been an amazing year so far- 2013 will be an exciting/ scary year for me so I'm excited to see what it brings!

As for beauty favourites, i have a few things to show you!

Revlon Colourstay Foundation in 150-Buff is my go to winter foundation. I love the coverage it gives and its staying power is beyond any other foundation i use! They do different ones for dry and combination/oily skin so if you haven't tried this yet i'd definitely recommend it!

MAC Blush in "Springsheen" My go to blush this month! Its a lovely peachy pink with subtle gold shimmer. It works really well with the foundation and gives a great glow to the cheeks- perfect for winter!

Urban Decay Primer Potion I've always overlooked this product, believing that nothing could give my eyeshadows staying power on my hooded oily eyelids. Boy was i wrong! I'd never wear eyeshadow without this now and can't wait to get my hands on a full size one!

L'oreal Telescopic Mascara I rediscovered this a while ago and have repurchased it a few times! Its a really great mascara that i'd recommend anyone give a go! Its affordable and gives really great separation to my lashes!

Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner A new purchase for me at the end of October! I really adore how easy this makes my morning! Its got a lovely fine tip and stays wet long enough for me to correct any mistakes i make!

Urban Decay Eyeshadows in "Bootycall" and "Suspect" These are 2 wonderful eyeshadows from the naked 2 palette. Bootycall has been my inner corner and browbone highlight for the month, making a lovely subtle change from the more garish "Nylon" by MAC that I normally use. I've been really more into a sweep of a brown eyeshadow across this lids this month and Suspect has really become one of my favourites!

Left: Bootycall Right: Suspect

Those are my favourites! What products did you love in November?

7 happy things in 7 days

Oh dear little blog, I have been neglecting you. Third year is tough work on top of the stress of deciding what to do after uni. I promise i'll try to be better.

I absolutely adore ciderwithrosie's blog and her posts "10 things that have made me happy this week" so i thought i'd start my own version so that i still look for the good even though i spend most of the time being stressed.

1.) Watching a film with George when he turns and says "I love you Becky." There's something about hearing your name tacked on to the end of 'I love you' that makes it extra rare and special and it gave me the warm fuzzies :-)
2.) Seeing the delight on housemates number 1's face when housemate number 3 won a prize on a raffle at an event we went to and picked the coffee maker he had been drooling over for weeks and gave it to him as a present. She's such a lovely girl :) The amount of time the 7 of us in my house had spent talking about that coffee maker, it was only fair that it came home with us!
3.) Housemate number 3 being even more lovely and buying me chocolate when my interview didn't go well!
4.) Making tacos with george for the first time and them tasting reallyyy yummy.
5.) Strictly come dancing makes my weekend- i'm that sad that i refuse to do anything else but sit in front of the TV every saturday evening. Take Me Out is always put on afterwards- you have to love a bit of trashy tv.
6.) Housemate number 5 coming out of the funk he'd been in for the past few weeks, actually talking to us again and being his happy self :)
7.) The first baby to be born in my family since me arrived last week. Welcome to the family baby Rosie!

OOTN- Anniversary dinner

18th October, back before the cold weather hit, was my 2 year anniversary with the boyfriend! We went to Chiquitos for dinner, yummy food, cocktails and a budget friendly weekday menu, what's not to like? They even threw in a free glass of Prosecco each when we told them it was our anniversary!

I'd been shopping the week before and came out of New Look with this cute dress, part of their Kelly Brook range! It was £30 (£27 with student discount) but it was the last one in my size, in fact it was the last one there that wasn't a size 6, so i took it as fate and snapped it up! This occaision was its first outing!

I really love it and think its a flattering cut and would look great on anyone! I wore it with black tights and cheap black flats. The red bow belt that comes with it adds a great splash of colour!

After we got back i had some free time and played around with a red lip (Revlon lip butter in Candy Apple and MAC viva glam cyndi lipglass.) Not something i'd wear out normally but its always fun to play! Apart from that my make up was quite neutral, a nice base and a few shadows from my Naked 2 palette!
(Please ignore my messy bedroom!)

What do you think? Will you be checking this dress or anything else from the Kelly Brook collection out?

Much love,
Becky

Product Rave: Bumble and Bumble Sunday Shampoo

So, I've been using this product for ages now and i'm so in love that i just had to write a review on it! This is a shampoo that you use once a week. I use mine on a Saturday or Sunday as a weekend treat.

This is a cleansing shampoo that i purchased after product was building up in my hair and i didn't know why- one wash with this and all was right in the hair world again.

It smells amazing (at least i think so) and i would go as far as to says its really transformed my hair. I can wash it less often and it just looks and feels a lot nicer! I left it in my shower at uni over summer and actually really missed it!

I'd really recommend it to anyone- its pricey but you only use it once a week- mines lasted a good few months so far! I adore having the weekend hair wash treat! I'd definitely always repurchase this!
