New Revlon Lip Butters for Spring/Summer 2013

L-R: Wild Watermelon, Sorbet, Juicy Papaya, Red Velvet

I can't believe its been a year since Lip Butters landed in the uk. You will normally find me sporting Pink Truffle or Berry Smoothie on a daily basis. So when i heard new permanent and limited edition shades were finally here I stalked the Boots website. There are currently retailing for £7.99 with Boots offering a buy-one-get-one-half-price.

I picked up Red Velvet (new but permanent) and from their limited addition line i managed to nab Wild Watermelon, Sorbet and Juicy Papaya. I will however continue to hunt for Pink Lemonade and Sugar Plum.

Firstly, I have to say that although the new shades seem very bright and vibrant, they are in fact much sheerer to swatch and to wear. I'm not normally a fan of brights but these are beautiful and fit nicely into an everyday look. I highly recommend them to anyone wanting to see how they like bright colours as they give much more of a tint rather than a full on opaque colour.

L-R: Red Velvet, Sorbet, Juicy Papaya, Wild Watermelon
Red Velvet:
This is a new but permanent colour. Having heard good reviews on this colour i knew i wanted it but wasn't sure how it'd suit me. Its a much darker vampy red-brown shade. I was delighted to find i did like this colour. I will be sporting this on my next night out!

Sorbet:
A brighter pink. I thought i'd be scared of this colour (i have to admit if there wasn't an offer on these i wouldn't have got it!) but i love its sheerness and cant wait to wear it!

Juicy Papaya:
I totally adore this colour. I've always been looking for a way to wear peachy summer colours and this is most definitely it! It didn't even seem like i'd applied anything on my lips but when i left my mirror and came back to it, i noticed i had the nicest suggestion of peach on my lips. Its certainly juicy and is the perfect intro for someone wanting to try a peach shade!

Wild Watermelon:
I think this is my favourite colour! Its a wearable yet bright pink-red shade. Its really surprised me, especially how excited i am to wear this in the day time!

What do you make of the Revlon Lip Butters? Are you as pleased with the new shades as I am?

A very formal 21st birthday...OOTD

My hair on the left, my housemate's hair on the right
(which got repinned after this photo!)

Hi all,

First of all you'll have to bear with me on the blog front at the moment (10 points if you know the phrase "Bear with....bear with...bear with.) My final year of uni is incredibly busy and i plan to blog a whole lot more once i graduate in July (eeeeekkkkk.)

So anyways i went to a big formal 21st birthday the other week. I'm talking hiring out a bar and a £1000 bar tab for us! It was such a nice, different type of evening full of talking, singing and wine!

My outfit
So first of all i wore this dress from Oasis-total bargain and i absolutely love it! Its a blue-with-a-hint-of-green peplum strapless dress with a gold belt! I'd seriously recommend it if you have an event to go to! I wore it with some old flat metallic shoes (since i'm 5"11 anyways!) from new look, this style of earrings (but in gold) and this bag! Though i had to by a size down in the dress so would recommend you doing the same!

My hair
I followed the basics from this tutorial by swalkermakeup. I'd used this hair style for a uni ball i went to a couple of years ago, so knew it was easy and that i liked the outcome! All you do is curl all your hair, tie it into a low ponytail and then pin the curls up using bobby pins! I love this outcome as i like updos that sit lower on your head that you can see from the front!

My make-up
I kept it pretty simple. Unfortunately i don't have any good pics of my make-up but from what i remember i used MAC prolongwear foundation (which had some flashback- don't recommend for photography!), a variety of concealers, MAC MSFN, No 7. Blush in Soft Damsen, Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Permenant Taupe, Urban Decay eyeshadows in Verve, Tease and Blackout, Bobbi Brown eyeshadow in Bone as a brow highlight and MAC Nylon as an inner corner highlight, liquid eyeliner, mascara and eyeliner, lipbalm and my favourite Revlon Lip Butter in Pink Truffle!

Hope you enjoyed my little post! Speak to you soon,
Becky xoxo

NOTD: Revlon Colorstay 'Vintage Rose'

So i went a little nail varnish crazy the other day in the Boots 3-for-2 offers and ended up with about 8 nail varnishes. Don't ask me how that adds up to 3-for-2! Here one of the polishes i got-Revlon's Vintage Rose!

Its the first polish i bought from this colorstay range and i really like it so far. Its lasted really well with minimal chipping and i've had loads of complements on the colour! Its a lot darker on the nails than in the photo but i struggled to get a good one! The Daily Varnish has better photos of this polish which you can see here

I'd really recommend this polish and can't wait to try the other colours i bought from this range!

What are your thoughts on Revlon's nail varnishes?

Things that have made me happy this week!

1.) Seeing my coursemates in lectures again- they really brighten my day.
2.) Taking my new uni bag on its first outing this week- definitely my favourite xmas present!
3.) My housemate asking for my advice on how to use Excel and constantly calling it Edexcel! You can tell she's a humanities student!
4.) The Great Comic Relief Bake Off. Need i say more?
5.) Text from dog. Again need i say more? My friends and i have been in hysterics at it all evening!
6.) Getting a hair cut and actually liking it! Hopefully i've found a great place to go in Manchester :D 7.) Buying way too much nail varnish (damn Boots and their 3-for-2 offers!)
How cute is this?! :D

Comfy, cosy, revision OOTD

So i spent a lot of January in my room revising. Comfort and warmth are often my number 1 priority! Here are a few pictures i took of my outfit one day...

The top is one i got last spring from the Tall section of Dorothy Perkins- as i am very tall! I wore this over Topshop leggings, again from the Tall section, as they're much comfier to sit in than jeans!

And of course you need some fuzzy socks!!

Excuse the horrible face photo but i was keen to get back to work, and am not a fan of taking photos of my face anyways! I like to keep my make up pretty simple most of the time when it comes to revision. I wish i could remember which foundation this is as it photographed well!

But keep an eye out for my upcoming January Favourites as there'll be lots of products that helped me through the revision period!

V05 Give Me Texture Instant Oomph Powder review

I'm hair-cut-aphobic. (and i know i'm not the only one)

So about 18 months ago i had a horrific haircut. The word "choppy" was thrown about a bit and i left with barely anything to put up in a ponytail and really really short layers where she decided my hair was too thick. Yes I cried. A lot. Since then my hair has never been the same, it feels like i have a whole lot less of it!

Recently my hairs got really long and i think it might be weighed down by itself. Therefore I've been on the look out for something to give my hair some more oomph. After loving the V05 Smoothly Does It Frizz Free Creme i thought i'd give this a try and see what i thought.

Its basically a white powder that you shake into your hair, give it a little tousle and its supposed to give some volume and texture to the hair. To cut a long story short, this product is awful.

The Pro's:
-The price- Boots have it priced at £4.07 but i got mine cheaper from Asda. I bet this would last someone a long time.
-The packaging- I love the pink packaging and the different ranges from this line.
-The scent- I think all the products in the pink packaging have the same scent, i like it a lot less in this powder form but the Frizz Free Creme smells divine.

The Con's:
-The product. Yup, the bit you're actually paying for is awful. This powder is gritty and you can really feel it in your hair, making it impossible to brush out or work with afterwards. It provides some volume but this quickly falls away. It sits in your hair so much that i would never ever use this product again. I really really hated it.
-The instructions. The packaging says they've left extra room for you to shake it up before use. DO NOT do this! All it does is get the product all over the little parts of the lid and it goes everywhere when you try to open it.

The good news is that i think i've found a product that does the job i'm looking for! I used it for the first time today so want to try it out a bit more when my hair doesn't get ruined by the wind the second i walk out the door. Watch this space.

Also i'm getting my hair cut for the first time at a new place in Manchester tomorrow. WISH ME LUCK!!! I'm slightly bricking it!

Exams and 21st celebrations

I could eat like that all the time!

Hi everyone,

Sorry i've been away for a while! I had the week from hell doing all on my 1st semester 3rd year exams in 1 week. Let me tell you it was almost impossible the amount they expect you to know for each module! Every year from GCSEs, to A levels, to 1st, 2nd and 3rd year you're expected to know more and more. But with the help and support of friends and the boyfriend i lived to tell the tale! And i only have 1 more exam period to get through before i graduate in the summer!!

My housemate turned 21 during the week and as a surprise we treated her to a girly afternoon tea at Hey, Little Cupcake in Manchester. It was so lovely to spend time with my female housemates- we don't often have Girl's Time!

We gorged ourselves on sandwiches, scones, chocolate covered strawberries and mini cupcakes! We sipped hot chocolate, chatted and laughed the afternoon away- so much so that we were practically kicked out as they were setting up for a cupcake decorating class that evening!

So anyways I've just had a quiet weekend catching up on sleep and finally spending quality time with the people in my life! I'm back in lectures now though so didn't get a long break (37 days of solid work in exchange for 2 days off doesn't seem like very much!) But its nice not to have constant work and to have the time to paint my nails for the first time in months! It's definitely the little things in life :-)

The 4 of us :)
What have you been up to this weekend? Anything nice?
Becky xoxo
